Although one could argue that it is the things that you think that matter, I think the real question is how you think and why you think the way you do.
If you think that every little thing you do has an impact on your life, then you don’t have a very big mind. But if you think that you matter a great deal, then that’s a mind that you can use to your benefit.
In her book The Power of Full Engagement, Whitney Houston has a great quote that basically sums it all up. She said, “I’d rather be liked than loved. I’d rather be loved than feared. I’d rather be feared than respected. I’d rather be respected than admired. I’d rather be admired than loved.
This may sound a bit odd, but when I first read that quote I was a bit confused, because I didn’t understand how Whitney Houston was saying that she would rather be loved that feared, or what the difference was between being respected and being admired. Of course, the important part is that Whitney Houston said that she would rather be loved than feared (i.e., she would rather have someone like herself than someone like her parents).
In the end, Whitney Houston was a true-blue American pioneer. She was a singer, dancer, actress, writer, and one of the most popular, if not the most popular, woman in the world. She was a symbol of American independence, rebellion against social mores, the American dream, and the American spirit. She is a well-known icon of the American Dream.
Just as an aside, Houston’s mother was also a singer, dancer, author, and actress. Her father was a boxer, a former heavyweight champion.
Whitney Houston is one of those people who is so well-known that we often forget how famous she was. And it’s true. She was the first woman to headline in America, and even now she is still going. She is the icon of true, American, American-ness, and that’s a title that can be so easily misplaced. It can be overplayed, overrated, over-exaggerated, and sometimes it even leads to being mistaken as being “fake.
It’s all right to talk about this, but if you’re a guy who just went by the name of the girl you’re talking to, do you have any idea how much she is an icon? She is actually a pretty good dancer, and she’s been known to dance to the beat of the shit out of other people’s faces to make women as beautiful as they can, not to mention that she’s really a great singer. She’s a pretty good dancer.
Whitney Houston is probably not an icon. And she might have been a bit overrated. But she was a huge influence on many of us, and she was a beautiful, beautiful woman. So if youre a girl who just went by the name of the girl youre talking to, you can take comfort in the fact that she might have been a bit overrated.
She was an icon. Just like you are.
