“Tomorrow will be a better place.” This saying has been attributed to several different people, but the one that stands out to me is from the movie The Graduate. The scene where the main character is given the option to choose to either quit her job or to keep going was one of my favorite scenes in all of movie. In the middle of the movie, he tells his friend that he is going to change his life. That is exactly what he did.
It’s true. As the main character of the movie, she decided to quit her job and become a therapist instead.
I think this saying is the most universal and timeless saying around the world. It’s so simple and yet so profound. Most of us are doing what we are doing because we want to. It’s our choice what we want to do, but it also means we’re doing our best to live the life we want to live.
So if a quote like this sounds familiar, then you may have seen it a million times before. It’s a saying often attributed to Bill Murray, but I think it really comes from Mark Twain. He had the line: “Tomorrow will be better than today.” It was a saying that he used in his 1883 novel “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
I didn’t know I was quoting Mark Twain until I read this. I had probably seen it a million times in the news and articles about him. But today, I went to the Americana Museum in Atlanta, Georgia and saw a video of him in the 1890s. I just learned that he was a great writer, and I wish that I had a copy of his book to read.
I’ve always had a love for Mark Twain. I was raised in a family that loved him and his books. I even used to quote him, so when I read the quote tomorrow, I’ll probably use it myself.
Mark Twain, a man who is known for his witty and controversial quotes, also has a very special place in my heart. He was a part of my life when I was very young, and it’s been an honor to watch him grow in my mind and in my heart. Twain was a prolific writer, and it is no surprise then that he is often quoted and referenced in his own writing. His famous quote is: “When I see a man do something honest, I will do likewise.” Twain wasn’t just talking about the act of stealing. The moral of that quote is that the act of stealing is honest, but the act of stealing (even if it is a clever/good one) is not an act of honesty.
The first place to look for an explanation for my lack of self-awareness is on the level of being able to remember. It’s a pretty good question, but if you haven’t read it yet (or if you have many others), you should.
The thing is, if you don’t remember something, you can’t really understand its meaning. It’s a pretty simple concept, but if you don’t have the right tools to understand something, you can’t really understand it. This is why it is so important to understand your emotions, the context in which we feel them, and the emotions themselves. Sometimes, we feel like we’re angry or hurt or both at the same time.
